S03 E15 - NICKI CLARK: THE POWER OF PURPOSEFUL BUSINESS

In this episode of Real World HR, host Louise Kennedy is joined by Nicki Clark.

Nicki is the co-founder and CEO of UMi, who help businesses do more and go further by taking the hard work out of finding and using the best information, advice and finance.

Nicki started out in banking, travelled the world selling soft drinks and has set up businesses and social enterprises, working closely with both the public and private sector. Nicki believes that businesses have the power to make a difference to lives and the world around us, so she ensures that UMi measures success by more than just its financial health but also by the positive impact they have on the people and environments they touch, evidenced by UMi’s own BCorp certification. She is an active Volunteer, Director, Trustee, Coach and was awarded an OBE in June 2022 for services to Business and Social Enterprise in the North of England.

On the podcast, Louise and Nicki chat about the company culture at UMi, what it is like to be CEO of an employee-owned business, as well as covering how they portray their values and why Nicki thinks this is so important in their recruitment process.
